多くの人が「火炎樹」と呼んでいるのは、その2.で紹介したホウオウボクを指しており、こちらの名前は「火炎木」。

樹冠全体ではなく、花冠の一つ分が、メラメラと燃える炎のようで、チューリップの花にも似ている。

The shape of its corolla looks like a flame or a tulip corolla.
